How to Convert Inches to MM With Tables

Millimeters and inches measure distance, millimeters in the metric system and inches in the American system. You can calculate the conversion from inches to millimeters by multiplying the number of inches by 25.4 mm per inch. If you do not have a calculator but do have a conversion chart, however, you can find the equivalent measurement by using the chart instead.

Find the "Fractional" column of the table if you have an inch measurement expressed as a fraction, such as 3/64, or the "Decimal" column if you have an inch measurement expressed as a decimal, such as 0.0469.

Find your inches measurement in the appropriate column. For example, if you had a measurement of 3/64, you would go down the "Fractional" column until you found "3/64."

Move across the row to the column labeled "Metric mm" to find the equivalent measure in millimeters. In this example, you would go across from 3/64 to get 1.1906 mm.
