How to Make a Christmas Pedestal Bowl Centerpiece

How to Make a Christmas Pedestal Bowl Centerpiece

A pedestal bowl resembles a chalice; it is wide on top and at the base, with a long stem in between. Pedestal bowls often serve as centerpiece decorations, as they add height and dimension to the table. Make a Christmas pedestal bowl centerpiece to use for a holiday dinner or special occasion. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    1

Sand a wooden bowl. Use either a round or square bowl, depending on your preference, as long as the bottom of the bowl is flat in the middle.

    2

Sand a wooden candlestick holder, which will serve as the pedestal. Sand the top of the candlestick holder as smooth and flat as possible. Use a holder with a wide, sturdy base. Hot-glue the top of the holder and place the bowl directly on the glue. Press down to secure.

    3

Paint the pedestal bowl. Use a non-toxic, food safe spray. Use green, red, gold or silver paint for a holiday color.

    4

Cut a 12-inch satin or silk ribbon. Tie the ribbon around the column base and fashion into a bow.

    5

Add decoration. Fill the bowl with sprigs of pine, holly or mistletoe, nuts, acorns, pine cones or any combination thereof. Alternatively, fill it with delicious treats. Place a doily or cloth inside the bowl, and fill it with red and green chocolate covered candies or Christmas cookies.
