How to Create a Free Restaurant Floor Plan

How to Create a Free Restaurant Floor Plan

Restaurant floor plans are drawn before the construction of the restaurant. Construction companies use the floor plan to create a blueprint that the construction workers can follow as they build. You can hire a person to make a floor plan for you, or you can do it yourself for free.

Instructions

    1

Determine a scale system. If you plan to draw on a standard 11 by 8 1/2 sheet of paper, consider allowing centimeters to equal feet. Drawing 1 centimeter on the paper will equal 1 foot in reality. If you are working with a larger piece of paper, consider a ratio of 1 inch to 1 foot. Use the same scale for tables and other restaurant furniture and fixtures. You can use scale to draw and read your free restaurant floor plan.

    2

Draw the exterior walls to scale on a piece of paper. Use a ruler for scale and slide the pencil along the edge for a straight line. Most retail spaces have existing exterior walls but allow you to build non-weight-bearing walls within the structure to fulfill your design needs.

    3

Provide a section on your drawing for a kitchen. The kitchen should have access to all the utilities and be provided with a separate entrance for employee safety.

    4

Maximize your space for customers. Allow servers to arrive at the tables quickly by drawing seating plans that are close to the kitchen. Draw a section for bathrooms in a section of the space that has access to water and sewage lines.

    5

Increase your maximum capacity. Draw as many seating areas in your restaurant that you can without the possibility of crowding potential customers. Restaurants thrive on large numbers of customers. The more seats, the more potential customers can sit in your restaurant.
