How to Bring Food to a Table As a Waitress

How to Bring Food to a Table As a Waitress

A restaurant server's method of service and proper service etiquette is as momentous as the quality of the food. A waitress who follows exceptional service etiquette without assistance or the need to refer to notes is usually rewarded in the form of a generous tip. To deliver food to a table cautions must be taken to reduce the risk of fallen food and confusion at the table.

Instructions

    1

Place a wet towel or napkin on the bottom of the tray. This will prevent glasses and plates from moving on their own.

    2

Stack the plates onto the tray according to the guest position at the table. This makes serving the correct plate to the right person without having to ask or refer to the order notes.

    3

Balance the weight of the plates evenly on the tray.

    4

Carry the tray balanced with your thumb and finger tips while your hand is open. Your shoulder may be used for additional support, however for hygiene purposes, the tray should be clear from your mouth and neck.
